How can we obtain relevant business information?

At some point in their life, most businesses will need to develop their offer, and possibly diversify into new areas and sectors. The great news is that there are so many sources of information out there to discover more about companies, markets and the business landscape. The bad news is; quality research and business intelligence takes time and the skills of an experienced person. We have just that.

What we do

As a growth specialist, Touchstone has been undertaking research programmes for our clients for many years. Our research is carried out by specialists who have vast experience and a real passion for business. The internet, media reports, directories, white papers; all are rich sources of facts, figures, trends, predictions and opinions. We understand them all, and are therefore in a position to deliver research that is both insightful and timely – able to truly inform and influence business decisions.

By digging deeper, exploring alternative avenues and evaluating information that is way beyond the obvious, we are able to manage specific research projects or more general research programmes that will generate new business and open up new markets.

Touchstone thinks "outside of the box" for top ten tech agency

Our client is one of the best known technology companies in the UK. They were unsure how to go about building a prospect list of potentially "big spenders" outside the FTSE 250. They also want to change market perception from a pure technology agency by placing greater emphasis on their creativity and business strategy offerings.

Client issue:

A top ten tech agency wanted to look for business outside of the usual sectors that all their competitors are targeting but were unsure how to go about building a prospect list of potentially "big spenders" outside the FTSE 250.

Touchstone actions:

We used a variety of:

  • internet research
  • brainstorming
  • newspaper/magazine research
  • in-depth discussions with client about who they would love to work for

to compile a list of sectors that were likely to spend significantly in this area and were outside the "usual suspects". Once the sectors were agreed with our client, we drilled down within each business area to create a database of prospects.

Results:

  • The client was thrilled with our "outside of the box" approach
  • We have just started client prospecting activity and to date there have been a number of new business meetings diarised
  • Conversations are developing into "warm" relationships with commitments to meet in the future when the timing is right
